MESSAGE FROM TODD
Is there a better time of the year than the holidays? Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years, there is such great energy and spirit in the air.

Speaking of joy, I experienced something last week that was just awesome. My son Luke rode his bike for the first time without training wheels. The look of pride, accomplishment, and joy on his face will stick in my mind forever. I was lucky enough to actually capture it on my camera, so you can see the picture for yourself below! It was a special moment. We also had his "Curious George" 5th birthday party on Saturday (his birthday is actually today, Dec. 10th) and we had an absolute blast. He and his young brother (Brady, 2 ½) played so hard with their friends they passed out hard that night. It was great to watch all the kids interact and play so passionately. Kids teach us the greatest lessons in life and it has been a great month of "accomplishments" for them.

I was down in Orlando, Florida after Thanksgiving and had the absolute pleasure of working with the USMC Sempir Fit program. I presented a program called "Functional Fitness for the Ultimate Athlete." It was an honor to educate and motivate over 60 fitness directors, trainers, and leaders that are helping train our Marines to fight in Iraq.

It was a real honor to be part of the LaDainian Tomlinson story last night on 60 Minutes. LT and his wife LaTorsha do so many phenomenal things in the community, as well as LT's feats on the field, and I am happy they both received the national exposure they so deserve.

We are in the heart of the holidays. As exciting and great a time the holiday season is, it can also be stressful. This month's feature article shares "13 No Non-Sense Rules to Get Results During the Holidays." These tips are designed to provide you some reminders and insight how you can maximize your health, fitness, and energy during this time. Remember the reason for the season, and do take the time out to reflect, slow down, and be thankful for all of the blessings in our life.

Peace and God bless you.

Todd

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT:
Graeme Dixon

Decreased his bodyfat by 4%!
Increased his strength by 55%!
Decreased his mile run by 2 ½ minutes!

Graeme Dixon, a Fitness Quest 10 client since May of 2006, has recently made great strides in his commitment to fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The owner of a successful pool cleaning company, Graeme's true passion lies in Equestrian Sport, especially Show Jumping.

A desire to improve his performance in his riding is what originally drove Mr. Dixon to come to Fitness Quest 10. After initially setting out to strengthen his core to help limit the pounding he took in his sport, an event in October spurned him to build up the strength in his legs, trim his bodyfat, as well as continue with his core training. Working with the team of trainers at FQ 10 (including Karen Turcot, Pat Jak, Janet Bertrand & Sarah Anisman), Graeme has made tremendous improvements in his fitness and performance through sheer grit and determination. Graeme sums it up by saying, "The reason I train at Fitness Quest 10 is to improve my strength, balance, and core body strength so I can continue to compete in the sport that is my passion!"

So once again, congratulations on your achievement Graeme, and keep up the excellent work- we are lucky to have clients as driven as you!

"The Power of Pilates"

By Andrea Krakower, M.S., CSCS, Mat Pilates, Balanced Body, Spinning®, Fitness Quest 10 Pilates Instructor

It is hard to turn on the television or walk into a gym without hearing about Pilates. The series of exercises created by Joseph H. Pilates in the early 1900s has gone from 'the' celebrity- endorsed workout of the moment, to a mainstay in gyms and studios around the world. Despite all of the hype surrounding Pilates, many people are unclear about exactly what Pilates is, and more importantly, how it will help them reach their health & fitness goals. This article will explain exactly what Pilates is, debunk some common myths associated with Pilates & provide insight about how you can make a Pilates practice a part of your workout routine. ATHLETE CORNER
"Training Youth the 'Old School' Way"

By Brett Klika, CSCS, Fitness Quest 10 Director of Athletics

As the Chargers battle through a seemingly "uphill" season, the post game chatter on the wires is amuck with camparisons of the Chargers' new coach, Norv Turner, and the former Marty Schottenheimer. "Marty was an old-school guy, discipline, emotion, expectations, authority". I have to ask myself if I'm alone when I wonder If those attributes are "old school", what does "new school" mean?" In my opinion, if my coaching style was described as any form of antitheses to these above attributes, I would consider it a significant slander. When did themes of respect, authority, hard work, discipline, honesty, accountability, and fundamentals get cataloged into "sport history" under the genre "old school"? CLICK FOR MORE
